WLADYSLAWOWO
Does not only mean a town of some 10 thousand inhabitants, but also an administrative unit covering an area stretching from
Chałupy through Chłapowo, Rozewie, Jastrzębia Góra, Tupadły and Ostrowo to Karwia.The town has the ambition of being one of the main resorts on the Polish coast. It enjoys a wholesome climate, the sea water is clean, and the air is saturated with the intense aroma of iodine. Here you will find a vast and beautiful beach 23 km in length and 12 attended bathing places. The town previously had a double name-Wielka Wieś-Hallerowo, was named Władysławowo after a fishing port whose construction was commissioned to The French-Polish Consortium in 1936. In 1963 it was granted civic rights. The port is an undoubted tourist attraction. In the summer season the tourists are offered boat trips out into the open sea. This extremely attractive town in terms of climate has a number of interesting buildings. In the town centre can be seen the tower of the Fisherman's House, now the Town Hall. Apart from the Town Council it houses a number of other institutions. On the tower there is a view point, accessible for everyone, from where a splendid panorama of the sea, the Hel Peninsula and Puck Bay can be admired.
The church in Władysławowo is an interesting structure. In the early 1930s a chapel was built whose style was modelled on the Gothic. In the late 1950s and early 1960s the chapel became the presbytery of a new church, built to a most unusual design. Now, in July and August every year, organ concerts are held here.
Sports enthusiasts will also find something interesting in Władysławowo. The Local Olympic Training Centre - a widely known sports facility complex - is not only the venue for spots events but also for shows with popular artists. Włdysławowo has its permanent visitors who have acquired a taste for evenings in local cafes, bars and restaurants. They show great discernment in their choice of fish-salmon, eel, flounder, cud, herring, sprats. If not a weight-losing holiday, tourists can try a holiday combined with a driving licence course or a holiday "in the saddle". There is a great variety of offers every year so everyone can find something they like or which helps them relax.
