ROZEWIE

Rozewie

Is Poland's northernmost place, Its slopes are covered With a beech forest. Some beeches are about 200 years old, reaching 30 metres in height and 3m in diameter. Rozewie owes its fame to a lighthouse. It was first shown on a Swedish map from 1696. The current structure was built in 1821; more than 50 years later a light was installed on top of a tower erected 200m from the first one. This fire was put out in 1910.

Extended in 1978, the Razewie lighthouse is the oldest structure of its kind along the Polish coast. According to legend it was connected With Stefan Żeromski. A commemorative plaque and a small area inside the lighthouse is dedicated to this great writer and lover of Kashubia.
