Chałupy
The oldest name of this village is derived from the Kashubian name Budzisz, hence Budziszewo which was mentioned in 1664, and Budziszew (1678). The names Nicponia and Ceynowo were also used. In this fishermen's village Krystyna Ceynowa was tied up in 1836. Suspected of witchcraft she was subjected to an ordeal which she did not survive. In present-day times Chałupy, which maintains its fishing character, is also a very attractive holiday resort. It is picturesquely located at the base of the Hel Peninsula between the Baltic Sea and the Pucka Bay. The calm shallow waters of the bay provide excellent conditions for practising windsurfing.
